Chief Minister Preparing to Implement Plan of Action: Sources

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy

HYDERABAD: Chief Minister and TPCC president A Revanth Reddy is said to have resolved to welcome approximately 16 BRS MLAs, two of its sitting MPs, and a few former ministers and MLAs into the Congress fold after March 18.

According to insiders, the chief minister is preparing to carry out his plan in an attempt to inflict a fatal blow to the BRS.

Danam Nagender, a Khairatabad MLA and former minister, met with Revanth Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy, and AICC in-charge Deepa Das Munshi at the chief minister's residence on Friday, indicating that the MLA intends to rejoin the Congress.

According to sources, he plans to run for the Secunderabad Lok Sabha seat on a Congress ticket. He is thought to have had significant support in a few Assembly constituencies in the constituency while serving as a minister in the Congress regime in undivided Andhra Pradesh.

The Congress aims to field a strong contender in Secunderabad to challenge sitting MP and Union Minister G Kishan Reddy and win the seat from the BJP.

If the party fails to nominate him for Secunderabad, Nagender could be appointed to the state Cabinet. Nagender belongs to the Munnuru Kapu caste, hence his inclusion in the Cabinet would please the community.

If he is appointed to the Cabinet, the legislator will have to retire from his seat, which is not unusual for him. He quit in 2004 after being elected to the Assembly from Asifnagar on a TDP ticket, and then returned to the Congress. He won the Khairatabad constituency in the 2009, 2018 and 2023 elections.

In another interesting incident, Warangal MP and BRS leader Pasunuri Dayakar met with Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy at the Dr BR Ambedkar Secretariat, along with ministers Konda Surekha and Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, dealing another blow to the Pink Party.

Peddapalli MP Venkatesh Netha left the pink party and joined the Congress about 20 days ago, while Chevella MP Ranjith Reddy is staying away from BRS activities. All three — Dayakar, Nagender, and Ranjith Reddy — are slated to attend the Congress on March 18 in Delhi, in the presence of AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge.

KCR's move irks BRS MP

Pasunuri Dayakar's followers expressed dissatisfaction with BRS head K Chandrasekhar Rao's decision to field Kadiyam Kavya for the Warangal SC Lok Sabha seat, which he represents. The Congress is likely to field him for the same Warangal seat.

The core committee in the state Congress has informed that at least 15 to 16 MLAs and BRS leaders are expected to attend the Congress within a week. They would mostly represent MLAs from Hyderabad, Medak, Adilabad, and Mahbubangar.

Two sitting MPs, three former ministers, and five former MLAs want to join the party, dealing a major blow to the BRS. A few BRS MLAs have already met Revanth, while others are in contact with other Congress leaders.
