Government Funds Released for Minority School Construction

HYDERABAD: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy said on Friday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah could not repeal the 4% reservation for certain sections of Muslims that is being implemented in Telangana.

He recalled Shah's statement that the Centre will eliminate Muslim reservations.


Revanth was addressing a crowd at the LB Stadium, where the state government had hosted an iftar feast on Friday.

He stated that the Congress government was concerned with the wellbeing of Muslim and Christian minorities. He recalled that the Congress government, led by YS Rajasekhara Reddy, had implemented 4% reservation for Muslims. "We introduced Muslim reservations and it is our responsibility to protect them," Revanth said in a statement.

He stated that the government has previously allocated cash for minority schools and residential building construction and that Muslim minorities have received fair treatment in all areas.

Meanwhile, Md Ali Shabbir, adviser to the state government on minority affairs, declared that stores and eateries in Hyderabad would be open till 4 a.m. throughout Ramzan.
